The Nova DSLR: A New Age of Digital Photography

From: Geek Smack

We’ve all seen the numerous , admittedly-boring and clunky DSLR cameras released over the last decade or so.

Erin Fong, an Industrial Design student in California, was tired of both looking at and holding the clunky devices, so he created something fresh, new, and quite ergonomic!

His concept involves a device with two flexible arms, one for each hand, that hold the camera’s controls. Mounted in a spherical body atop the two arms is the camera itself. While from a technical standpoint, this concept creates many engineering challenges, if those challenges could be overcome, we could plunge into a new era of digital photography – one in which the art of the camera itself is as prominent as the art created with the camera.

While this is only a concept, it’s certainly an interesting prospect and surely one day it’ll be in the hands of many intrigued photographers. I know I’d buy one! You can check out some more shots of the camera itself at Eric Fong’s portfolio page.
