Ikegami Adds Bluetooth Transfers to 2/3-inch GFCam Camcorder.
Ikegami introduced the industry’s first tapeless camcorder. It continues this tradition with a series of new products and enhancements to its GFSeries Flash-memory HD production system--developed in cooperation with Toshiba, a world leader in Flash RAM production. New features include Bluetooth capability for the GFCam HDS-V10 tapeless camcorder, which enables users to instantly export thumbnail clips directly to a laptop application for fast logging, metadata insertion, and take advantage of other workflow benefits as well. The rugged GFCam HDS-V10 camcorder employs three 2/3-inch CCD imagers and is available in 1080i and 720p versions for dependable broadcast-quality ENG performance. The GFCam records standardized MPEG-2 MXF file format HD video on reliable, high-capacity 32MB and 64MB HD Flash RAM GFPaks. Each GFPak supports thousands of rewrite cycles and connects to NLE systems using a standard USB-2 connection (no special docking station is needed). Other new GFSeries innovations for increased HD production convenience and functionality include: the new GFStation Portable player/recorder; the GFPlayer low-cost desktop playback machine; the GFAdapter for direct media interface to tower PC’s; the multi-slot Studio GFAdapter; and Ikegami’s Media Manager software for efficient GFSeries integration with large server-based production environments. Providing invaluable flexibility, the new GF Station Portable player/recorder is a half-rack-wide portable deck for playback of video on a GFPak or the recording of external video sources (such as pool feeds) via built-in HD or SD-SDI inputs. It features the same user interface as the larger GFStation studio deck, with its jog/shuttle wheel and other VTR-style controls, a front-panel USB connector, a color LCD monitor with thumbnail display for quick access to individual clips, and audio and playback-level controls. The unit provides the same internal editing functions as the GFStation studio deck, such as cuts-only editing of GFPak video clips. An Ethernet port allows the GF Station Portable to transfer GFPak material via Gigabit Ethernet. A built-in up-/down-/cross-converter is included for playback of HD and SD content, as well as a composite video output for monitoring or playout. Also joining the GFSeries line are: the new GF Player, a low-cost desktop playback machine for producers or news directors to view raw GFPak footage (Ethernet, 9-pin RS 4:2:2 connectivity, and DVI-D video output are included); the new GFAdapter for the convenience of direct plug-in of GFPak media into tower PC’s with fast serial ATA interface; and the multi-slot Studio GFAdapter, designed as an accessory to the GF Station or GF Station Portable in studio/facility applications, giving immediate access to multiple GFPaks. New PC-bsed Media Manager software allows for efficient transfer of GFPak recorded material to cost-effective external storage devices at faster than real time. It also provides metadata review and access to individual clips for fast and easy recycling of GFPaks in the field. The new GFStation Portable player/recorder, GFPlayer desktop playback machine, GFAdapter, Studio GFAdapter; and Media Manager software join the GFCam HDS-V10 tapeless camcorder, the versatile GFStation GFS-V10 Flash memory studio deck, and the rugged high-capacity GFPak HD Flash-memory media, all of which comprise the advanced Ikegami-Toshiba GFSeries Tapeless Flash-Memory HD Production System.
