JVC GZ-MS130’s Review

by infosyncworld.com

01/09/2009

We remember having mega issues with JVC’s first generation GZ-MS100. The built-in software just couldn’t cut it. This year, JVC walked us through the JVC Everio GZ-MS130’s built-in software, which was a much-needed improvement. We were able to view video clips in a calendar format and upload in batches via drag-and-drop functionality. You’d have to live under a rock your entire life not to be able to grasp the new upload procedure.

The JVC Everio GZ-MS130 has a basic 1/6” CCD, so we’re expecting an average standard-definition performance. But that really won’t matter since YouTube crapifies any video that happens to be uploaded. The JVC GZ-MS130 is a tiny camcorder, and consumers can choose between iridescent Onyx Black or Topaz Blue, colors that will attract tweens and moms questing for internet fame. Price: $350. Release: February 2009.

JVC GZ-MS130

Summary

Solid Camera- 4 Stars
"Just got this camera after owning a JVC mini-DV for 7 years.
I have the GZ-MS130AU model.
Love the size and how it feels. Hand strap could be a bit more comfortable but unlike other makes, this does give you a choice of how to use the strap.
The record button ends up being not so easy to hit- but the LCD screen rec capability helps in this area.
Video quality is great- nonHD, but really good. The optical zoom is impressive and the anti-shake capability is very much appreciated specially when chasing kids around. Not the best- but it helps a lot.
Upload to PC was easy and fast- the included software makes it REALLY easy on a PC; I was able to make a simple DVD very easily. However, there is not much editing/producing type capability.
Battery change time is a bit long but it keeps a charge pretty well given that the LCD monitor is its sole viewing capability.
Overall a great camera, great size, who needs HD, the zooming capability is very much more preferred."
